English instructions
Nokirastit is a series of recreational orienteering events organized by Rasti-Nokia yearly between April and October. Events are open for everyone to participate and no prior orienteering experience is required.
These instructions are by no means as complete as the finnish instructions but hopefully at least some what usable. Feel free to ask for additional guidance via email at [email protected].
Events
All events organised by Rasti-Nokia can be found at Events pages. Our recreational orienteering events are also visible at Rastilippu site which provides an english version that might be easier to follow but some of the content is still finnish only in Rastilippu also.
Schedule and locations
More detailed event schedules can be found in the event pages. The event information also includes navigation instructions to the event where you can buy maps and get further instructions from our staff.
Self-service events
In addition to the actual events, so-called self-service events (omatoimirastit in finnish) are available with some of the main events. And some events, the ones in July, are organized only as self-service events. Self-service events can be utilized whenever it suits you during the time specified in event information. Maps are typically sold for about a week around the actual event day. During this time, controls in the terrain have a flag and a number code indicating which control it is.
Self-service events are not organized in connection with all the events, and therefore the schedule for self-service events is announced separately in the event details.

Participant’s obligations and responsibilities
Orienteers must be aware of finnish everyman’s rights and obligations. Participants are obliged to help anyone who is injured or lost in the event area. You must follow the rules of the Finnish Orienteering Federation and the instructions given by the event organizers. For example, prohibited areas marked on the map must be obeyed in the events, even if everyman’s rights would otherwise allow you to go through those parts of the terrain.
Everyone participates in the events at their own risk. Each orienteerer must be able to take into account and relate their own fitness and skills to the requirements of the terrain and weather conditions. The event organizer has not insured participants against accidents.
